For this Transformation, I wanted to share the details behind a stunning blonde look I recently created during one of our classes.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced over the last 20 years in hair is color longevity. Isla Hand-Tied Hair is crafted to solve this issue with a unique coloring process and minimal silicone, making the colors last longer and the quality stay consistent. In other brands I’ve used, when the silicone wears off, both color and texture can shift dramatically. My goal in creating Isla was to make things easier behind the chair—no more endless hours of over-coloring to achieve a blend that lasts.
For this blonde, I used four different colors to achieve the perfect depth and dimension, creating a natural, blended look with no visible “window” pieces. Here’s the formula and placement pattern I used:
Row Placement & Color Details:
• Bottom Row:
• 2 Wefts of 9WBL (Warm Blonde)
• 1 Weft of 6/10NN for added depth and contrast, diffused in the middle
• 1 Weft of 10/8 WBL
• Top Row:
• 2 Wefts of 10/8 CBL (Cool Blonde)
• 1 Weft of 10N
• 1 Weft of 9WBL
• Mini Row:
• 1 Weft of 9WBL
• 1/2 Weft of 10N
In this placement, I used the CBL as the top overlay to perfectly match her natural root color, creating a seamless blend without excessive coloring or shadowing. Isla’s hair density (more grams per weft) means that stacking isn’t necessary—I recommend no more than 3–5 wefts per row.
We chose to use 24-inch extensions for her look, with 2.5 rows of NBR extensions. You’ll see in the photos that her warm undertones required a full highlight and tone. Using the same formula, I added warmth for a natural effect.
Switching to a new hairline can be challenging with so many color variations, so each Monday I’m sharing my secrets for achieving that perfect blend with Isla!
