Not All Genius Wefts Are Created Equal

Not All Genius Wefts Are Created Equal

When it comes to hair extensions, not all genius wefts are created equal. As stylists, the more options we have, the better we can customize extensions to each client’s texture, density, and desired result.

That’s exactly why we’re excited to expand the Isla Hair collection.

We recently launched our top 10 colors in the Genius Weft, and now Isla Hair carries three incredible options:
    •    Hand-Tied Wefts
    •    Genius Wefts
    •    Mega Volume Genius Wefts

Each option gives stylists more flexibility to create the perfect installation for every client.

Why Choose a Genius Weft?

One of the biggest advantages of a genius weft is that it can be cut without shedding. This makes customization incredibly easy for stylists who want precision placement.

Both Isla Genius Weft collections are also:
    •    Double drawn
    •    Cuticle intact

What does that mean?

Cuticle intact:
All the hair cuticles run in the same direction, which means less tangling and smoother wear.

Double drawn:
The hair is fuller from top to ends, giving clients that thick, luxurious look we all love.

Understanding Your Weft Options

Each Isla weft type serves a slightly different purpose depending on your client’s natural hair.

Hand-Tied Wefts

Hand-tied wefts are incredibly versatile. With NBR Hair Extensions, you can stack multiple pieces on a row for maximum fullness.

Recommended stacking:
4–5 hand-tied pieces per row.

Hand-tied wefts are also very easy to stitch, making them a favorite for many stylists during installation.

Genius Wefts

Genius wefts come in one long strip per package, allowing you to cut and customize the pieces exactly where you need them.

They contain fewer grams per weft, which makes them perfect for stylists who want more control over placement and layering.

Mega Volume Genius Wefts

The Mega Volume Genius Weft is designed for maximum fullness with fewer pieces.

Instead of stacking multiple wefts, you often only need:

1–2 pieces per row.

Each package contains one weft with a high gram count, delivering incredible density while still laying flat.

A Real Example: My Personal Installation

I recently installed the Mega Volume Genius Weft in my own hair to test it out.

Because my natural hair is fine and slippery with medium density, I customized my install a little differently.

My current setup:
    •    1 Mega Volume Genius Weft
    •    7 Hand-Tied Wefts

I wear two rows and a mini row using the NBR method.

I personally love:
    •    The fullness of the Mega Volume weft
    •    How flat it lays
    •    Adding one hand-tied weft for extra blend and volume

Because my hair is fine, I wouldn’t stack two Mega Volume pieces on one row. This is a perfect example of why customization matters.

Gram Breakdown: 22” Isla Hair Extensions

Here’s what each Isla line looks like in 22 inches:

22” Hand-Tied Wefts
    •    85 grams per package
    •    4 wefts per package

22” Genius Weft
    •    50 grams per package

22” Mega Volume Genius Weft
    •    75 grams per package
    •    1 weft per package

Why Customization Matters

Every client’s natural hair texture and density will determine:
    •    How many grams they should wear
    •    How many wefts should be installed
    •    How often they should come in for maintenance

Having multiple weft options allows stylists to build the perfect install for every client instead of forcing one system to work for everyone.

More Options = Better Results

With the addition of the Genius Weft and Mega Volume Genius Weft, stylists now have even more ways to create customized, seamless installs using Isla Hair.
