True luxury in extension work comes down to an exacting equation: premier hair meets master-class engineering. No matter which extension method you choose, your education should continue to evolve. After working with thousands of artists—and as someone who still wears extensions myself—I’m constantly looking for ways to innovate, improve, and create better results for both artists and their clients.
This year, we’ve introduced several new ISLA Hair products, including one of my personal favorites: the Volume Genius Weft.
The Anatomy of a Row: By the Numbers
• Volume Genius Weft (18-inch): Contains 75 grams of hair and can extend across an entire row.
• Hand Tied Weft (18-inch): Contains approximately 22 grams.
More hair isn’t always better. The goal is to choose the right amount of hair for each client’s natural texture and density. For my own fine hair, wearing two Volume Genius Wefts on one row would be too heavy. Instead, I mix one Volume Genius Weft with one Hand Tied Weft. This gives me the fullness I want without unnecessarily overloading my natural hair.

A Bittersweet Turning Point
I also have some bittersweet news to share with our community. After more than 15 years in the education space and creating one of the industry’s leading beaded extension systems, this will be the final in-person class I personally teach.
Next year, I’ll be focusing on exciting new projects within the broader beauty industry, although additional NBR Education options will remain available. Still, nothing compares to the energy of being in the room together.
